Counselling & Psychotherapy

Counselling tends to focus on a specific, identifiable concern using well-evidenced tools. Psychotherapy works more broadly on your emotional, mental, and relational patterns — often at a level beneath the presenting issue and what gave rise to it. Which one fits depends on your circumstances and what you're looking for, and we can talk that through together.

I offer both, individually, with adult clients — whether you're working through something specific, or looking for deeper, ongoing exploration of yourself and your life.

Sessions

  • 60 or 90 minutes, depending on what suits you — many people find 60 minutes sufficient, while 90 minutes gives more room for complex or layered concerns.

  • In person at my office in Eltham, video-telehealth, or by negotiated home visit.

  • Hospital bedside visits and walk-and-talk sessions will be considered on a case-by-case basis.

Pricing

60-minute session: $120

90-minute session: $170

Travel costs: as agreed

Discounted rates available for renters, NDIS recipients, neurodivergent people, and men experiencing domestic abuse — get in touch to discuss.

Many people find working with me cost-effective, given that they may seek more than the ten sessions a Mental Health Care Plan will fund.

Issues I can help with

  • Stress & overwhelm — parenting, work & career pressures, anger

  • Relationships — partners, family, friends, workplaces

  • Fear, phobias & anxiety

  • Depression, loneliness, loss of connection, low self-worth

  • Grief & loss

  • Life transitions & identity exploration — health, mobility, circumstances

  • Trauma — single events (PTSD) or accumulated (cPTSD) from accidents, crime, bullying, abuse, exclusion, neglect

  • Addictive tendencies and their root causes — alcohol & other drugs (AOD), gambling, pornography, shopping, conflict-seeking

  • Self-harm, distress tolerance & emotional regulation

  • Support for neurodivergent clients, and those who care for or manage them

Who I’m not the best fit for

  • Couples, family, or multi-partner relationship therapy (though I'm happy to work with you individually on your part of it, or to help you find the right support for the relationship work itself)

  • Children and adolescents

  • People with an active alcohol or drug dependence

  • Clients currently using violence towards others

If any of the above sounds like your situation, get in touch anyway — I'm happy to help point you toward the right support.
