Skills for life

Skills for life is an ongoing group program based on Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT). It teaches and enhances practical skills in mindfulness, distress tolerance, emotional regulation and interpersonal effectiveness.

All of us have strengths as well as deficits in these areas, depending on the skills of our early caregivers as well as through the opportunities and circumstances presenting as our lives unfolded.

Although DBT was initially developed for people suffering Borderline Personality Disorder (BPD), many other people find it useful to sharpen their skills in these aspects of their lives — from neurodivergent people (who find explicit, structured frameworks for interaction genuinely useful) to parents, managers and leaders seeking to ensure they work with, and model exemplary behaviours for, others, at their best.

Skills for life is offered as a series of weekly group workshops as part of a six-month program. Many participants will want to complete only a single six-month cycle. Others may seek to participate in a second cycle whilst undertaking a full DBT treatment program alongside one-on-one DBT counselling and phone/SMS coaching with me or another provider.

The Skills for life program runs for 90-minutes from 7pm, every Monday night for 24 weeks. The cost to participate is $2400 for the six months (equivalent to $100/session). No discounts apply for this program.
